From the first time I watched endurance races as a kid, I was intrigued by the idea of teams racing around the clock and swapping out tired drivers while their shared car kept soldiering on.
After I joined iRacing, the long-advertised team endurance racing feature took a while to be released, but it was worth the wait, as it added new elements to online races: harnessing teamwork, fighting fatigue, channeling consistency, and balancing strategy with speed to achieve the best result.
Endurance racing helped me find one of my best friends in sim racing, Karl Modig. From our first NEO sprint races together to the 24-hour events we fearlessly tackled as a duo, we’ve always been on the same wavelength, from our comparative pace to our patient approach to knowing the information we’re each looking for while driving.
I have also been fortunate to join teammates at KRT Motorsport, SRN Motorsports, and iRacing Today Motorsports for endurance events, and to find success with each of those groups. From watching those long races when I was younger to competing in the virtual versions myself and winning at famed tracks including Daytona, the Nürburgring, and Le Mans, I have lived an endurance racer’s dream, even if I’ve lost a bit of sleep during those tiring late-night stints.
